Photo Friday – Breathe

by Wendy Gabriel

My parents have an organic farm in the St. Croix Valley region of western Wisconsin. It’s a place where I feel like I can truly breathe. Everything in my life suddenly falls into the proper perspective the minute I drive up the long, winding driveway. Worry and stress melt away as I’m greeted by the natural beauty of the land.

Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live. ~Anonymous

Ahhhhhhh. That image reminds me to take deep breaths. Thank you! Where do I go to just breathe? Now that I’m a city dweller, I have learned to breathe deeply wherever I am, but I miss wide open places. Thankfully, a forty minute train ride, sometimes less, will take us to the beach where my sweetie and I walk, and breathe deeply, for as long as time permits, as long as no recent oil spills foul the water and land, and no sea creatures have committed mass suicide recently. It happens! Only today I learned that our beaches are among the most polluted in the nation, thanks mostly, apparently, to the latest local oil spill and to runoff carrying bacteria-laden contaminants from our lawns, sidewalks and streets. Crumbum. I was feeling wonderful after reading your post. Back to the image and a re-read!
